Siamo volati a Philadelphia per incontrare finalmente di nuovo il team di @muralarts, partner dei progetti Art and Community for Environmental Action e XFarm Land Art. Grazie anche al supporto di @usanelsud, abbiamo trascorso cinque giorni di attività, formazione e visite agli studi d’arte insieme agli altri partecipanti al Community Catalyst Incubator for Mural Arts promosso da Mural Arts Institute.
Dopo aver rotto il ghiaccio con il direttore di Mural Arts Netanel Portier e il responsabile del programma @joseph.iacona, abbiamo iniziato con la visita allo studio di @benvolta e il workshop pratico di polytab presso la sede centrale di Mural Arts.
Il giorno successivo, abbiamo goduto di un tour a piedi alla scoperta di alcuni dei murales promossi da Mural Arts in città, e abbiamo visitato il Porch Light Hub Space, sede del progetto Color Me Back.
Il programma è proseguito con la visita a @buildingbok e allo studio @southeastbysoutheast con l’artista Laura e @shirawalinsky, e successivamente al Growing Home Community Garden con @tea.lamb. Nel pomeriggio, abbiamo fatto un tour a piedi al Philadelphia Street Market per esplorare il @ourmarketproject con l’artista @michelleangelaortiz, prima di presentare pubblicamente i nostri progetti alla comunità di Mural Arts.
Nell’ultimo giorno, abbiamo visitato il makerspace creativo @nextfab_phl e il murale della Climate Justice Initiative con l’artista @eurhi.jones e Priscilla Bell, prima di gustare un pranzo speciale di Barbacoa al Community Garden @iglesiasgardens gestito dall’artista @cesarmural. Infine, abbiamo visitato lo studio @cranearts con l’artista Emilio Maldonado, concludendo così la settimana.
We flew to Philadelphia to finally meet again with the crew of @muralarts, partner of the projects Art and Community for Environmental Action and XFarm Land Art. Also thanks to the support of @usanelsud, we spent five days of activities, training and art studio visits along with the other participants in the Community Catalyst Incubator for Mural Arts promoted by Mural Arts Institute.
After breaking the ice with Mural Arts director Netanel Portier and program manager @joseph.iacona, we started off with @benvolta studio visit, and polytab hands-on workshop at Mural Arts headquarters. The day after we enjoyed a walking tour spotting some of the murals promoted by Mural Arts around the city, and visited the Porch Light Hub Space, site of the Color Me Back project. The program continued with the visit of @buildingbok, and @southeastbysoutheast studio with artist Laura and @shirawalinsky, and later on of the Growing Home Community Garden with @tea.lamb In the afternoon we went on a walking tour at Philadelphia Street Market to explore the @ourmarketproject with artist @michelleangelaortiz, before publicly presenting our projects to the Mural Arts community. On our last day, we visited the creative makerspace @nextfab_phl, and the Climate Justice Initiative mural with artist @eurhi.jones and Priscilla bell, before having a special Barbacoa Lunch at the Community Garden @iglesiasgardens managed by artist @cesarmural. We eventually visited @cranearts studio with artist Emilio Maldonado, and wrapped up the week.
